Let's face it, these van images with solar panels are far far far from stealth.

While we knew we would have a fan of some sort visible on the top of our van (as many vans do that are not converted), we didn't want our solar to be visible to those seeing the van from ground level.

We wanted something more like this:

We decided to search Amazon for flexible solar panels that were very thin, yet high output.

The flexible panels were larger yet generated fewer watts, so we chose to get the largest size that would fit on our roof as shown above. We built custom brackets that we could secure to the top of the van with Eternabond 4" tape. However, if we were doing this again we would purchase U Shaped Brackets from Amazon as listed below.  Then using 1/4 inch bolts and nylon lock wing nuts we could easily take the panels off and put them back on as necessary.

For the leading edge, we used z-bar aluminum transition molding and secured it to the van with Eternabond tape only on the leading edge of the aluminum transition, not to the solar panels themselves.  The z-bar then overlays the leading edge of the solar panels to help reduce the stress caused by airflow under the panels.
